Waaaay behind!

Yikes! I have fallen pretty behind on my gratitudes. Oops!

Although I'm not grateful that Eric is gone right now, I'm grateful for things that go along with it, so that is what I'm listing today. :)

Today I'm grateful:
  • That Eric has the opportunity to work for his dad and make money for Christmas gifts
  • That my sister and her boyfriend came out to hang out with me tonight, and brought Chinese for supper
  • That I have made it 3 whole days without my hubby here, and I've made it without losing my mind!
  • That our neighbor has been helping by picking Ella up and taking her to school in the mornings, so I don't have to wake the boys up early and get them ready and take them out in the cold.
  • That it is closer to Friday, and closer to Eric coming home!
  • That absence makes the heart grow fonder, or however that saying goes. :)

Days 7 and 8

Day 7 grats (Tuesday)
  • For a nice cozy house in this freezing weather
  • That Ella and I made it to and from dance safely in the fog
  • For my family
Day 8 grats (Wednesday)
  • That the ENT thinks Jacob's throat 'thingie' is nothing scary
  • That I made it through most of today without losing my mind completely
  • That Eric will be home soon

Update on Jacob

The ENT thinks it is benign. He said it may just be a tonsil tag, but, he wants to keep an eye on it. Eric and I are supposed to look at it every few days and if it continues to change we need to call. We go back in 2 months for a checkup. We also are supposed to listen to his breathing at night too, make sure he doesn't have sleep apnea and isn't snoring.

He did say that J's tonsils are enlarged.

He said that if it continues to change he will take it out. But, he wants to wait on that since they'll have to put him out.

Day 6

Took Jakers to the doc this morning. She isn't concerned about the thing in his throat. She thinks it is extra tissue that is always there, and it is irritated now b/c he has a cold. So, we'll see. I'm still keeping our appointment with the ENT, just to be sure.

Taking the kiddos to get flu shots in just a few minutes, then I have a policy council meeting for Ella's preschool tonight!

Grats:

  • That Jakers doesn't have strep
  • That the weather is a little warmer today
  • That I am making good progress on Christmas gifts!

Day 5

  • For getting started on Christmas gifts
  • For a clean house
  • For a nice quiet morning!

Day 4 - grats and fun stuff

SO, today we had a big day! We have been looking for a babysitter (non-family) for awhile. We finally found one and had her come over today and hang with the boys while we took Ella to Madagascar 2. It went SO well! The boys loved her, she is so nice and talkative and just a great girl. So, we will use her again!

Grats:

  • For a fun time at the movie with Eric and Ella
  • That we found a wonderful babysitter for the kids

Confession

I'm going through older photos of the kids tonight ... just from last year. And, more than once, I have had to turn to Eric and ask "Um honey, is this Jacob or is it Boden?"

Good grief. Horrible!!

Jacob

It seems like all the crazy stuff happens to my kids!

A few days ago I noticed a weird growth in Jacob's throat - it looks like he has 2 uvulas. I took him in last night. The PA we met with didn't know for sure what it was - thought maybe it was extra tonsil tissue. How that happens I have no idea. We agreed it must be new-ish, he has seen enough docs since being born you'd think someone would have noticed that. My regular doc was consulted and although she didn't see him (she was delivering a baby) the PA talked to her and she thinks that it could be the extra tissue or a double uvula, which is weird.

Anyway, they still don't know what it is. It seems to me that it bothers him b/c he is constantly shoving his fingers down his throat.

So, we have made an appointment with an ENT on November 26th, hopefully we'll get some answers. I'm hoping he doesn't need surgery to remove the tissue, but I don't want it bothering him or affecting his breathing or swallowing either.

Day 3

Today I am grateful:

  • That we have only received a little snow
  • That we have shelter - a warm home to keep us safe and happy
  • For my mom

Day 2

I'm feeling a little funky today. Money issues plague my life and I just hate that. Christmas coming, a big trip coming, it is very hard right now. Blah blah.

This is why my grats are so very important. I need to focus on what I'm grateful for and maybe that will make the bad things seem smaller.

Today I'm grateful:
  • That Eric came home last night from being away for a few days
  • That it isn't snowing yet
  • For a new face in the White House, hopefully bringing change to our great country

Day 1!

So, a few of my sweet friends at Oscraps are doing 30 days of grats - 30 days of listing the things we are grateful for. I need to start focusing more on what makes me happy, those little things (and big things!) I am grateful for every single day. Too often I find it easy to dwell on the negatives in life, and that not only poisons my own happiness but the happiness of those around me.

So.

Day 1!!!

I'm grateful for:
  • My O friends, who keep me joyful and inspire me every day
  • Eric, who is working for his dad right now to get money for Christmas.
  • Jacob and Boden, for waking up super happy every single day!
  • Ella, for getting up easily for me this morning and being such a good listener.
